Overview and significance of the gymnastic exercises in classical dressage

How do I keep my horse motivated and healthy by using a variety of exercises?

Our 12th International Workshop started on Monday, and it feels like a big family reunion! Many of our guests have been there since the beginning, and there are participants who are even traveling from the other side of the world, as far away as New Zealand! We are particularly pleased and a little proud of this tremendous turnout.

As usual, our photographer Maresa Mader will be on site with her camera, documenting the five-day event.

Day 1: Gymnasticization is not possible without education!

  • The ABCs of education and the importance of the gait figures for young horses
  • The smooth transition from education to gymnasticization

Day 2: Lateral movements form the basis of gymnastics

  • Which ones are there – how to develop them – how to initiate them – how to end them – how to link them
  • When in hand and when under saddle?

Day 3: Bringing the horse into physical balance, but how?

  • Transferring weight from the forehand to the hindquarters
  • Straighten the horse in the longitudinal axis
  • Analyzing the horse’s balance and symmetry
  • Bringing the horse into mental balance

Day 4: Exercises for advanced riders and horses

  • Improve fine-tuning between rider and horse and ensure the horse’s mental and physical fitness

Day 5: On the way to the beding of the haunches

  • Piaffe
  • Passage
  • Spanish walk as a link between the two movements
